The Story
The Seiko Astron GPS Solar HAB001J is a dual-time chronograph built around Seiko's Calibre 5X63 movement, drawing power from any light source and storing up to two years of charge in power-save mode. Connected to the GPS satellite network, it automatically adjusts the time, timezone and Daylight Saving changes wherever you are, with accuracy independent of a battery.
The 43.4mm titanium case is finished with a super-hard coating and measures just 12.4mm thick, with a 50mm lug-to-lug for a comfortable fit on the wrist. A textured blue dial with a fine cross-hatch pattern sits beneath sapphire crystal finished in a super-clear coating, framed by a faceted bezel with UTC markings.
Three sub-dials handle the watch's functions: a 1/20-second chronograph counter, a day-of-week and UTC indicator, and a GPS Solar 24-hour display, alongside a date window. A power reserve indicator and satellite acquisition display keep you informed at a glance, and an in-flight mode allows GPS reception to be switched off when required.
The watch uses Seiko's quick-change strap system, built into the titanium bracelet via a push-button release for easy swapping with compatible straps. It's water resistant to 10 bar (100m) and rated to 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance, with a durable all-titanium construction throughout.
