The Story
Part of Seiko's 145th Anniversary celebrations, the Seiko Prospex HBC005J is a limited edition diver's watch that marks a significant milestone in Japanese watchmaking history. Available in strictly limited numbers, it's a rare opportunity for collectors and watch enthusiasts to own a piece of that legacy.
Powering the HBC005J is the Calibre 6R55 — a more advanced automatic movement that winds itself through everyday wrist movement and can also be hand wound when needed. Where many automatic watches offer around 41 hours of power reserve, the 6R55 delivers an impressive 72 hours, meaning the watch keeps running for three full days without being worn. An accuracy rating of +25/-15 seconds per day ensures reliable everyday timekeeping.
The 40mm stainless steel case is rated to an exceptional 300 metres water resistance, making it suitable for serious recreational diving and water sports. A screw-down crown and one-way rotating bezel add to the diver's credentials, while LumiBrite on the hands and hour markers ensures the white dial stays clearly readable in dark or low-visibility conditions underwater.
The curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside significantly reduces glare, offering a clearer and sharper view of the dial from any angle. Paired with a stainless steel bracelet and at just 13mm thick, the HBC005J wears beautifully on the wrist — serious performance wrapped in a clean, refined design.
